My name is Rodrigo Ziviani , I was born
in 1968 in Belo Horizonte city where I still live.I am Civil
Engineer , Post Graduated in Telecomunications Engineer and Data
Comunications. I am graduating in Fish Breeding by Federal
University.I have worked in construction for 12 years and have my
hobby for 29 years. I have been breeding only guppies for 25
years . Many years I was isolated in my city , where I didn't
know any other Breeder. In 1994 , with internet , I could find
few websites where I finally found and contacted Mr. Kwartler in
NY (1995). I took advantage of my vacations there and visited his
old fishroom in Bronx area. He was very nice person and picked me
up in subway statio.That time I didn't speak english , only few
words but could see the wonderful strains that Stephen had . I
bought my first good quality strains from him. Stephen explained
me how the union of the breeders and a strong club was important
to the hobby development . IFGa in USA always give him this
support.When I arrived in my city , the first thing that I did
was write a Clube dos Criadores de Guppy's website, where I put
my all knowledges about breeding and more that I learned reading
american's books. This way I wrote some breeding tecnichs in CCG
site and this idea grew up fast like my fishes. That time in one
month we had 22 members (1997) in internet.

I met Oemer Guelmez, the famous german
Guppybreeder, that was amazed about a existence of guppyclub in
Brazil . We changed some emails and in 1999 we made in Rio de
Janeiro city the 4 th Wolrd Guppy Contest. This show brought back
some old and new breeders in my country .I could meet in person
Oemer, Dr. Loch and his wife from Germany, Luke Roebuck and Frank
Chang from USA , Hidehara Nishihara from Japan and Alfons
Jestrabek and his wife from Austria that were fabulous to
everybody.The hobby finally restart in Brazil. Now we are IFGA
sanctioned club , Luke and Frank are
always helping and representing us in annual meetings being our
alternate delegates.
To 2002 we are planning to do a good show
again in São Paulo city and maybe will receive some guest from
other country to help us.

Now brazilians can have the CCG's (Clube
dos Criadores de Guppy) support to can participate of europeum
and american shows season.Our problem is being to find a safe and
economic way to send our entries to Europe and USA. The costs are
expensives to most of our members but we are doing some efforts
to can participate at least one show in USA and one WGC in
europe.
